Abstract

The present study was carried out with the aim of predicting professional commitment based on self-efficacy and innovative behavior of teachers of special schools in Lorestan. The correlation research method was predictive. The statistical population included primary school teachers of exceptional schools in Lorestan province (294 people). The sample size of 170 people was selected based on the table of Morgan and Karjesi (1970) with stratified random sampling method. The research tools were professional commitment questionnaires (Mayer, Allen and Smith, 1993), self-efficacy (Sherrer, 1982) and innovative behavior (Johnson, 2000). Data analysis was done by SPSS-20 software using descriptive statistics, Spearman's correlation coefficient and multivariate regression. The findings showed that among the variables of self-efficacy and innovative behavior, the highest mean was related to innovative behavior (3.47) and the lowest mean was related to self-efficacy (3.19). There was a significant and direct relationship between self-efficacy and innovative behavior with professional commitment. Self-efficacy and innovative behavior can predict teachers' professional commitment. That is, with the increase in self-efficacy and innovative behavior of exceptional school teachers, their professional commitment increases. It can be concluded that the investigation of the personality characteristics of teachers and their appropriate selection by the education authorities should be considered.
