Exploring and Clarifying the Components of Moral Education in the Fourth-Grade Textbook "Gifts from Heaven"

Abstract

Moral education is of paramount importance in the field of education and warrants serious consideration. It plays a pivotal role in cultivating ethical values in children, contributing to their personal development, attitudes, and awareness. This research aims to delve into and elucidate the components of moral education within the context of the fourth-grade textbook, "Gifts from Heaven." The content analysis method, employing Shannon's entropy, was employed for data analysis. This study encompassed the entire content of the fourth-grade textbook, "Gifts from Heaven," as the research sample, considering the nature of the subject matter. To ensure data precision and dependability, the self-review method was rigorously employed. Additionally, the research findings underwent validation by experts in the field of educational sciences. The research findings revealed that the religiosity component held the highest importance coefficient in the fourth-grade textbook, "Gifts from Heaven" (3.61), whereas the critical thinking component displayed the lowest significance (0). These findings underscore the need for greater attention to certain moral education components within this textbook. Highlighting moral elements and imparting moral education to elementary school students can foster desirable attitudes, ethical values, and spirituality, thereby nurturing well-rounded individuals.
