Abstract

Personality dimension is one of the most important, broad and attractive dimensions of human existence. When a person suffers from anxiety and restlessness under the influence of internal and external tensions, these unrests penetrate into her personality structure and will cause the person's personality structure to be disrupted. Ghadat al-Saman, a contemporary Arab woman writer, has also become anxious about living in a state of war and turmoil and has touched Beirut's turbulent years with all her might. For this reason, these inner turmoil’s are reflected in his writings. Beirut 75 Ghadat Al-Saman's first novel is a picture of Beirut on the eve of the Civil War. Since Karen Horney’s personality theory is one of the most important personality theories that has been considered by researchers in the field of literature, The present study has been done in a descriptive-analytical manner and in the framework of this theory, has studied and analyzed the main characters of the novel Beirut 75, Farah, Yasmineh, Taan, Abu al-Mullah and Abo Mustafa. According to the research findings, Farah has a horny aggressive neurotic personality. Jasmine, a nun who suffers a bitter fate, has an obedient personality to Horne's theory. Abu al-Mullah, who steals to free his daughters, also has an obedient personality. Taan, who at first lacks neurotic characters, is forced to secede from his tribe for being literate; had a detached personality. Abu Mustafa, who commits suicide to achieve his goals, also has an aggressive personality according to Karen Horne.
