The effectiveness of storytelling on social skills development of elementary secondary boy students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of storytelling on social skills development of primary school male students. This is a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test with control group. The statistical population of this study included all male students of Golestan elementary school. The statistical sample of the study includes all male students of the second grade of Golestan School that Sixty of them were selected using purposive sampling And by simple random sampling, 30 of them were in the experimental group and the other 30 were in the control group. The experimental group received 12 and 30 sessions of social skills training with storytelling method for one and a half months. Data were collected at the end of the sessions by a Likert-scale researcher-made questionnaire with "never, often, sometimes" options. Data were analyzed using covariance analysis test. The results showed that social skills training through storytelling improves the development of social skills, self-regulation and effective communication with others in students
