Comparison of physical and psychological dimensions of couples based on the number of children

Abstract

Today, improving the quality of life has introduced a newer concept of health that is related to the scientific aspects as well as the psychological, social, functional, physical and health aspects. Unlike in the past, it is not only evaluated in quantitative terms. One of the family events is deciding on the number of children. Because this decision affects the lifestyle and more importantly the quality of life of the family. Depending on the subject of the research, the correlation method is used. The study population was single couples with more than two children in Haft Shahr area of ​​Tehran. In this study, sampling was done purposefully and available with maximum diversity, so that single-child couples and couples with more than two children of different ages, educational levels and different economic and social classes will be selected. Sampling method is a simple random method. In our study, 300 people were selected as a sample. The 36-question quality of life questionnaire (SF-36) is the most popular and widely used tool for measuring quality of life, which we also use in this study. Test results showed that there was a relationship between physical function, emotional well-being, general health and social functioning with the number of children for both groups. The results of our study showed that there is a relationship between physical function and the number of children, and of course this relationship has been established between both single-child couples and couples with more than a few children.
